Black Friday

  Black Friday is a day where stores usually draw in costumers with low prices on their products. Cyber Monday is the same idea but instead of going out to the store you can just buy the product on the internet. In my own opinion I think that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are both great ideas. For people who can't usually afford a $100 item, they can now get it for a much cheaper price. I do find Black Friday a little crazy. Its insane that some people will wait outside the store for hours, waiting  for the store to open and to get the best gifts. Its strange that some will even get into fist fights over a phone or tablet. I would think the reason why this year sales didn't do so well on Black Friday is because Cyber Monday is easier and a lot safer. On Cyber Monday you don't have to worry if the product you want will be gone or you will have to fight someone off to get it.  

Human Resources: Nike

One company that I think has a good human resource background is Nike. The reason why I think Nike is a good company is because when you look at their benefit page on their website they have a long list of things that Nike gives when you are a employee there. Some of their benefits include health insurance, disability insurance, retirement saving plan, paid vacation and holiday and onsite fitness center/fitness discount and tuition discount.

 As you can see Nike gives there workers many benefits for doing their job. You may be wondering what benefits even are. Benefits are compensation other than wages and salaries that employees get. The next question you could be asking is what type of jobs do they have? Nike has many different types of jobs for qualified workers. Some of them include designer, merchandising, product development, IT and sales. One job that I woulds like to have would have to be design. The reason why is because they get to actually design what the shoe looks like and how it works."Employees use the emotion of sport, athlete insights and relentless curiosity to invent products that advance human potential." Nike's goal is to better the environment, Nike tries to use as many environmentally friendly materials it can. They have made a tool for designers to select materials that can better the environment so they can innovate better solutions for a limitless future.

I think the best company to invest in would be Nike inc. The reason why I would invest in this company is because it starts out with a low current price ($89.86). I will probably invest in this company.

Tom's Shoes Responsibility

On the Toms website it states that their responsibility is that they want to improve lives with their business. They make sure to know how their shoes are being made and have many people to oversee that happening.

Whole Foods Responsibility

On the whole foods website it says that there main focus is to sell there best quality produce, make sure their customers are satisfied and to make sure their employees and happy and successful.

Starbucks Responsibility

 On the Starbucks website it talks about how they have a responsibility to the costumer to make sure that they keep a good connection with the customer.

McDonald's is one of the top fast food chains in the world, thousands of people go to the chains everyday. So is it really a surprise to find out that the McDonald's in China was found to be selling expired meet to the costumers? The sales in China have dropped increasingly since this news came out. 

Company Research

   On February 11, 2014 General Motors recalled  800,000 cars do to faulty ignition switches. After that more than 19 people have died because of GM cars. GM has only acknowledge 13 deaths and are being ridiculed by the members of Congress and safety advocates for that. General Motors has come out with a list of their vehicles and what is wrong with the car. They tell you what might happen and how you could prevent it. 


   
   

Online Exploration

   I read about the NIST Megacities trying to improve accuracy greenhouse gas measurements. The assistance that the U.S. business can expect from this organization is that it would help with the environmental side of the business world. It would tell the companies that use a lot of the greenhouse gasses how much and how little they should use. It could also help with trying to bring in more cars that don't use gas like hybrids.   The project started in 2012 and many people have joined this project, like the UN secretary general climate change support team.

Some things about me is that I am on the RMHS girls swim team here at the school. I have a dog named Maddy and a sister named Jacqueline. My favorite subject in school is science and history. I don,t have a favorite movie but i do enjoy watching them. I like reading and I think I watch way to much Netflix.
